Hermiz is breaking boundaries when it comes to the hair industry. His creativity, passion and self-expression are second to none and the reason he is the sole hairdresser on our talent list. Sometimes excellence can transcend expectations, which is why we believe Hermiz is the embodiment of pure creative expression. 

His history alone compels him to be the incredibly driven and extraordinary person he is, but it is only a mere component of what makes Hermiz the person he has become. His honesty combined with pure boundless creativity is what makes him truly remarkable. When Hermiz was a young boy, growing up in Jordan, he would sketch designs on paper with dreams set on being a world-renowned fashion designer. Although fashion wasn’t his destiny, creativity has always been a constant in every aspect of his life. 

The experience of growing up in a war zone doesn’t allow for creativity to thrive, but for Hermiz, his creativity thrived in spite of it. Hermiz was born in Iraq, and then forced to move to Jordan in the height of the war, before immigrating to Australia at the age of 15 in 2004. Without the convenience of language at his disposal, Hermiz learnt his new way of life by watching TV news in Australia. Years later, Hermiz fell upon hairdressing and quickly realized his skills were remarkable – but his TV learnt language skills weren’t up to scratch so he went back to school to improve his English skills to be employed as a hairdresser in a salon. 

After graduating in 2008, he found work at Toni and Guy and entered his first regional hairdressing competition – where he placed first. A buzz started to generate amongst the hairdressing community about this new kid with a single name taking the industry by storm. This led to his job at one of Australia’s most coveted salons – Joey Scandizzo in Melbourne. From there he earned more and more accolades for his refreshingly new and creative work. From winning ‘Up and Coming Hairdresser’ in the New Creative Force category at Hair Expo awards two years in a row to winning Victorian Hairdresser of the year 2 years in a row at the prestigious Hair Expo awards.

In 2021, only 10 years into his career, Hermiz was awarded Australia’s highest accolade in hairdressing; Australian Hairdresser of the Year. But Australia did not limit his creativity; he also placed 3rd in the world for Avant-Garde Hairdresser of the year, not to mention countless jaunts around the world to educate and inspire hairdressers and industry leaders. 

He’s also no stranger to working with some very impressive names; Naomi Campbell, Solange Knowles, Jennifer Hawkins, Guiliana Rancic plus a plethora of personalities closer to home, from Zoe Foster-Blake to Dave Hughes have had the pleasure of his talent. You may have seen his talents during the races or for fashion week, but also on a few TV shows such as Australia’s Next Top Model, Yummy Mummies or heard him on radio with Dave and Ed on Fox FM.
